Hello,
Very happy new user here.
I was going through the yahoo! groups area, and found the following picture:

Can someone please go through the steps involved in creating the shading effects? I particularly like the clouds.
Thanks!
jorgy
how was the shading done on this example?

Hello jorgy,
I can guess at two ways of doing this:
1. Layer shading - set to fairly transparent or light-coloured, and blurred.
Due to the different shadow angles, some clouds would have to be on different layers.
2. Shadow shapes - set to fairly transparent or light-coloured, and with a soft edge.
And, of course, soft edges on everything - in fact, apply the soft edges effect twice, as both Effect 1, and Effect 2.
Here's my quick attempt - the cloud on the left uses a shadow fill shape, the one on the right uses Moho's layer shading. Is this close enough to give you a starting point ?

Check out the fill properties using the Select Shape tool.

Oops! Okay, try this one:jorgy wrote:However, I'm using the linux version and it won't load the beta version 5 file. Is there any way you can save it in a version 4 format?

Still created on a Windows machine, but using v4.6 (4.6.1, I think).
Uploaded in ASCII mode.
Let us know if that works or not - if not, I'll boot up into Linux tonight and try that - assuming someone doesn't beat me to it.
