Some stuff I played with - trying to get some concept work. No quite there but practice makes perfect they say (we'll see if they are right).

I saw a request for concept artist for an independent game company I know. The enemies are these sort of weird swarm enemies. I decided to try a few. Unfortuantely not what he was looking for but I figured I'd try some more to see if I can get the hang of it.
I painted the first image in ArtRage and then worked it some more in Photoshop. The second I drew the outlines in Flash then brought it into Photoshop to color. The third I couldn't get the perspective right so I dragged out a few primitive shapes in 3DS Max, set the camera angle and rendered the outlines and brought that into Photoshop as a layer to paint and mix with other layers.

Thanks for the kind words ingie.
Here are some tests in 3DS Max for a required 3D special effects bit - trying to work with the lighting, caustics and reactor -3D is still not a comfortable fit but I do like playing with lighting and environments.
