Heavy outline help!

hi, i have a character on several layers (a layer for the head, a layer for body, and so on...). I need something like Mr. Bean cartoon, with a big outline. I have tried with "heavy outline" option on project setting>render style>layer style but it draw the line around each layer. If the character was built on a single layer there is no problem, but this way the effect is ugly. Any suggestions?
thx

Ah ha, this is an easy one:

Put the character into a group layer.
Select Layer Shadow (animated) in the layer properties.

Use the following settings -
Shadow on - ticked
Offset = 0
Blur = 0
Expansion = 4 * experiment with the number - this governs how wide the line should be).
Click the Shadow Colour and make the Alpha 255.

Hit okay as you're done.

You won't see the effect until you render it.

That should give you the effect you are looking for.

I'm no expert, but you can get what your looking for by putting everything into a Group Layer, then double-clicking that Group Layer, go to the Shadow tab, check Shadow On, put Offset to:0, put Blur to 0, put Expansion to 4 or 5.

Also, make sure you you click on Shadow Color and turn the opacity all the way up (solid black shadow).

Now a shadow will surround the entire character creating the illusion of a thick outline.

Let me know how it goes.

Edit: Rhoel beat me to the punch, lol

AS8 introduced a new Outline option on layer proprietes, so you can do it without the shadow trick now :)(and combine outline and shadow)
