I killed Paris Hilton

Post by BA »

howdy folks,

Recently i was given the assignment to work closely with Paris Hilton for a few weeks. She did not survive the experience.

This was actually a promo bit for her new movie House of Wax, which I do not necessarily recommend (haven't actually seen it yet).

The cartoon was made mostly with Flash, and composited in After FX, but I managed to squeeze a tiny bit of Moho in there. Three points to whoever can spot the moho shot.

The toon is on the official movie site - to find it follow these easy steps:

1. Log on to: www.houseofwaxmovie.com
2. Click on "Video"
3. A Pop-Up screen will appear. Click on bottom right button
(Picture of a dog howling at the moon).

Enjoy!

Gross to the point of being sick and disregarding of human dignity. Offensive hardcore gore.

You have skills as an animator.

hmmm... maybe I should add: WARNING CONTAINS DISTURBING IMAGES AND BRUTAL VIOLENCE

plus a disclaimer: I didn't write it or storyboard it, so blame Warner Bros if you find the content offensive...
blame me if you think it looks bad.

Okay, now that is way cool! The thing that made it work for me is the depth of all the props and set items. The truck and the trash and the woods and everything was very detailed, and it just worked for me.

Let us know what else you do!

For some reason (maybe it was too gross ;P) )they've taken it away from that video page by commenting it out, but you can still access it:

hey, thanks for finding it! I was wondering where it had gone...

maybe for some reason they're burying it... perhaps Paris was offended when she finally saw it - not sure if I'll ever know.

Anyway, while it's still online, there's one more chance to guess which shot used moho...

Here´s my guess: In the animation from 7 seconds to about 34 seconds or so when the reporter is interviewing Paris. Those two character´s body, arm and head movements are typical of the "Moho flow" or float. :D :D :D

thats pretty gory
i like it

as for which bit you did in moho...hmm well its quite hard to tell
my guess is the bit where the snake eats the dog or at least the dog was created in moho?

awesome animation though

How about a tip??? :D
Such as why did you use Moho to put a " tiny bit of Moho in there"?
:?: :?: :?: Any technical or cinematic reason or just trying Moho out?
:D

ok, here's a hint:

all the character animation was done in flash. I would have liked to do the whole thing in moho, but it wasn't possible within the schedule.

there was one shot, however, that could not have been done easily in flash, and seemed to be made for moho. It's a quick one, but it sticks out.

Final guess?

My final guess:
Starts at about second 41 - the landscape type scene with the sign that says "House of Wax Closed Set" where the camera pulls back to show the truck in front of the house....????

I am sure once you tell us it will be real obvious.

There was a little cloud of dust or smoke I think coming from the truck. That could have been a Moho particle effect, but if that's all the Moho you used I'll be sad...
