Welllll, the day has arrived - I'm officially a graduate. Laden with an Associates degree and a tiny bit of experience I now face the task of trying to find a job somewhere in the industry. I've been responding to ads and attending some shows this semester and Friday I'll begin to drop my porfolio and resume off at the studios I am aware of in Glendale and elsewhere. Career Sevices at the school is helping to line up some interviews and we'll see where we go.
My current, low paying, no-benefit, boring but secure office job will vanish by the end of the month as I didn't want to leave my boss in a bad spot. Little did I know when we began looking that I would find the perfect candidate through an aquaintance one day later. Darn this pesky honest streak! My wife is officially stressing out -whole different game when you have a family.
I am personally swinging between head throbbing worry accompanied by nervous gulping and gastric distress, and wild euphoria and hope at the thought that it may actually be possible to move into a creative field. I'll be 48 in two months and finally looking at the possibility of exploring the writing and art that I dreamed of as a child.
Wish me luck. All I really need is half a chance and watch out.
