Layer Setting window won't open.

Post by cartoonmick »

I have Moho 12 Pro, working fine until yesterday.
After using it for about an hour, it suddenly refused to open the Layer Setting" window.
I tried both the ... and double clicking a layer. Neither works now.
Rebooted computer and tried it on other animation files, but no different.
I just can't open the Layer Settings window.
I can open the Quick Settings window, but that has limited use.

Help !! Anyone.

My guess is that it is located off screen. Have you checked your monitor settings? Did you recently have a second monitor that you unplugged or something similar?

Thanks Lucas, I haven’t had any other monitors plugged in, just a USBmem stick which I’ve had plugged into another computer since with no problems.
The intriguing thing is, I was quietly animating on a project, everything was fine as I used various tools and made layer adjustments, and then, I went to open another layer setting window again, and it wouldn’t open. That was it. Just as if a switch was thrown to the Off position.
I’m not sure which monitor settings you’re thinking of, but I’ll have a poke around and see what I can find :D
Cheers

You can try this.

Close Moho.
Look for the 'Moho Pro13.user.settings' file (in my case it is '13', but in your case it should be something like 'Moho Pro12.user.settings')
For version 13, it's here, but I think version 12 says 'Smith Micro' instead of 'Lost Marble'):
C:\Users\vipar\AppData\Roaming\Lost Marble\Moho Pro\13
('vipar' is my username)

Open that file in Notepad and search for 'LayerDlog_location'
Next to it, it will have some numbers (maybe very big, since you are not able to see the window).
Change those numbers to '100 100', so it will look like this:

"LayerDlog_location" "100 100"

Now save the file, open Moho and open the Layers Settings window. If everything goes well, it should be visible now.

I hope this helps :)

BRILLIANT !!! Thanks Victor, that fixed it. Just a matter of the correct coding for the location.

The coding I found was -- "LayerDlog_location" "122 1040"

So, you were right, Lukas, it was off screen. With a location like that, it was a long way off.

I wonder what caused the change in code?? Probably never know.

Thanks Victor and Lukas, appreciated.

Cheers

. . . . . and then, just 4 days later, the same problem occurs.

I had been Mohoing away for about 40 minutes, when suddenly, for no apparent reason, I was unable to see the Layers Window when I opened it.

I checked the settings, and they were a long way out again, = "1092 1038"

So I reset them and all is well now, until.........?

Weird?

Just a thought...

I'm wondering if your pointing device is randomly spazzing out and repositioning whatever happens to be under the cursor. I've seen that sort of thing happen in the past with certain computer mice.

If your pointing device uses a unique device-specific driver (for example, a Wacom tablet or Logitech mouse/trackball driver,) maybe there's an update available?
