AUTO LIP-SYNC

Post by HOWLING_ABANDON »

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and MoHo in general. Just purchased the Pro 13.5 DVD. I'm enjoying it so far. Much better than Animate CC (Though I love ADOBE) and more control than Character Animator (they have go ideas but serious, no keyframes?! Seriously?!)... and I hate... hate... ((((((((((((((((((((((HATE)))))))))))))))))))))) ToonBoom Harmony. So complicated, so stupid, so... Canadian. UGH!

Anyways, learning MoHo, designing my first character... I can't really find any consistent tutorials how to setup the auto lip-sync in MoHo 13.5 (number and names of vowel/consonant mouths, how to set up switch layer, how to run auto lip-sync, etc.).

Does anyone have any advice where to look? Or, if it doesn't exist, can we start a conversation here? If it goes well I'd be willing to make a video tutorial based on best practices discussed here.

Hope everyone has a great day! Hope to hear from y'all!

Hey Howling,

There are a couple of tutorials on YT. Just Google 'lip sync Moho' and u find a bunch. Very educative.

Right on Franky. I've seen those... but they seem to be v12.
Should it be assumed the process is the same for v13.5 with no updates or new idiosyncrasies?

Thanks for your reply! :)

You might also consider the free Papagayo tool. I don't use it but it can generate auto lipsync for Moho.

TBH, manually animating lip sync is easy to do and very interactive with Moho. It will look a lot better than automated lip sync too. IMO, learning how to do this in Moho is time well spent, and the skill carries over into other animation programs too.

If you're on Windows, alanthebox made an unofficial update for Papagayo here...

Morevna Project also has an updated version on their website...

Cool, Cool.

thanks Greenlaw. And I'll take you up on learning manual lip-syncing. I drive a manual... might as well learn to lip-sync manual. :P

Even though I released that Papagayo update, I still prefer the look of manual lip sync as well. Plus, I can never remember all the predefined mouth shapes / layer names required for Papagayo to work correctly.

I don't know if you're at the stage in your Moho journey of installing plug-in's, but this one definitely helps me lip sync a lot faster:
