Stan, to save you some time, I had a go updating it to include Z, rotation and the ability to start new layers from the top or from the bottom (stacking order). I've not done the random option.

I've been using it a lot today and made some interesting gifs.
It would be good if it remembered the offset numbers. At the moment they reset when the window closes.

I wanted to create a pattern of items, but found stacking the items an issue - the last one placed is always on top.
The best fix I've found so far, is to use 3D layers/shapes, rotated slightly. This way Moho can order them correctly:
