Ghostface - facial test

Post by Therm0s »

Hello again. I have no idea where I'm going with this, but I thought I'd share nonetheless.

Image

Animated Version Here - QT 148k

Just a test using PNG files for eye masking and some basic facial deformation. Someday I'll actually make something more than a test with this stuff, but I'm having fun nonetheless. Animating images in AS is addictive. I've made so many of my friends dance embarrasingly that they're afraid to let me take pictures anymore. Now I have to settle for scribbling my own friends.

Was this rotoscoping over an image/picture?

Cool. I like the smooth and expressive eye animation.

ThermOs, did you export the artrage to psd and then import to AS?
I would like to know the workflow from pixels to vector. Would that be possible?
You'll know when you get there! My Dad

Thanks everybody! :D

All the layers are separate images (with the exception of the background). Process explained below.

ingie01:
I exported the individual layers from Artrage as separate PNG files. I then open them up in Gimp quickly to crop them down so they're not full-screen. When that's done, simply import each image as a new image layer in AS. The rest is masks, bones and switches to deform/move the layers.

The Eye and Hair bone layers have control bones off to the right that control the "squint" and "wind". Much easier than controlling each deform bone separately.

Download the lot here. - ZIP 4mb

(download is kinda big because of the image files)

Hope they help. Thanks for the interest. Any more questions, just let me know.

This is so cool!. could you briefly explain how this is accomplished.

Thanks 8)
