Help in exporting swf

Post by pabmove »

Hi guys,

I have an small animation clip and I exported it to swf.

I have two layers, Lenny a premade character that comes with AS and I made a PNG pic of a chair. The animation is about Lenny sitting on the chair.

However when I export the swf and playback, the chair is missing!? AVI and QUICKTIME exports are no problem.....

Am I missing something? Thanks in advanced

Hi pabmove!
As far as I know you cannot play image layers in flash with AS, Only vectors and related.
good luck.

Now this is odd... I can play a flash export with PNG images. I'm working on an animatic right now with nothing but PNG images, and it works fine. I have AS Pro, though. I'm not sure about plain AS.

I don't think it's about which version you have, I think it's whether the image files interact with bones or not. If you try and animate an image like this, it will not export to swf. The damn thing only has to twitch, and it's a complete non-starter.

Try an experiment. Make a new project, and load up an image file. Don't do anything to it -- now see if you can export to swf. Should be okay. Now put that sucker inside a bone layer and just make it twitch a little. Result? No show on swf export...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Yep, you're right! My bad...

I tried your test in Moho (not Anime Studio). You can't use images with bone animation and export it to SWF. So, it's not new to Anime Studio. I bet it's a Flash limitation.

My animatic didn't use bone animation, just layer animation, so that must be why it worked for me.

Yes I know that bones only work with vectors and not images but the chair is just as a background layer and is not part of the bone animation.

Nevermind .... I was playing around with AS today and now all is good. I can see my chair in flash.

Weird. So all I had to do is restart AS??? A bug?

Thanks everyone for your responses
