Stroke Exposure Anywhere

Post by BigBoiiiJones »

Similar to CACANi's Hidden/Invisible lines feature within the free segment tool it'd be nice to apply the stroke exposer anywhere along the vector drawings instead of start to finish.

Here is video example skip to 0:30:

Until this is native, there is a handy script by SimplSame that let's you set the start point to another point along the path here...

These days I tend to prefer driving an animated 'hide edge' instead. It's not as good for slow smooth reveals but it offers a lot more flexibility for defining the regions of the exposure, multiple regions even, along a single path. You can set this up using the script for Synthsin75j found here...

...you can set up something similar without the script, which is what I do for rigs at my workplace since I can't count on everyone having access to the script, but this effect a lot easier to set up and animate when you do have the script.

The main difference is that Synthsin75's method actually animates Hide Edge, and with the manual method you will need to simulate the effect using animated transparency. Either method works great with a Smart Bone Dial.

Hope this helps.
