More of a generic 50's advertising character design vibe. I always had a soft spot for tiny little characters like this in animation. My animation teacher once showed us a spot for "pizza pizza pan pan", just a very small man coming in and repeating these two words (with italian accent). That was it, that was the spot. That's the kind of minimalism I adore. There's a book about that style, "Cartoon Modern" by Amid Amidi, I recommend.

I'm guessing our non-US friends aren't familiar with Little Caesar's. Seen that little guy for decades. He usually says "pizza, pizza," but that was a spot for pan pizza.
