Text to Speech

Post by dueyftw »

I somehow stumbled on to this website.

https://wellsaidlabs.com/

This is the first text to speech generator that sounds human.

I agree, but have you ever worked with voice actors?

I have a project of taking a book and making it into an audiobook. Just one person to do the narration is about 600.
I would like to do it in Full-Cast. And that could be thousand's.

Sure, I've worked with voice actors, and yes, it requires a lot more money than I make, that's for sure.
So unfortunately ' funding' comes into the mix, that is not always desirable.
That's when I normally just do my own ( dodgy) voices.

I can certainly see that the text option could be well worth it for a project like yours, after all, you don't need a yearly subscription, eh?
Well worth the small expense in that scenario. :)
I guess the difference is that voice artists give proper nuance and meaning.

I have software that can change speed, pitch, add compression, etc. And with the natural-sounding voices, I think it will be fine.
The problem as you say, I would be using only one month to do what I need, But currently, I'm learning c#. Then I want to learn Unity programming. So I'm looking at six months before I work on the audiobook.

The samples at the website are surprisingly better than I was expecting. I don't think AI voices are a substitute for good old fashioned human voice acting, but I can see this being fine for informational videos or web-commercials on a budget.

Just for fun, I want play around with the trial today. Thanks for posting the link.
