Cigarette smoke

I am trying to use the particle effect generator to make smoke coming from a cigarette. But I am not sure how to make the smoke slowly drift away from the cigarette. It seems to sort of shoot off really fast as if there is a strong wind. Which settings should I change to slow it down? Imagine a cigarette on a table, and the smoke is slowly drifting off, that's the effect I am looking for. But right now it looks like its smoke through a wind tunnel lol.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try animating the particle layer itself and forget the velocity.
I'll see If I can demonstrate with a file.

try this -- it leaves a lot to be desired but hopefully will give you enough of an idea to get started.

Thanks Wes :)
that smoke path is animatable Daners, so you can make it go where you like.
It would make for good schools of fish , flocks of birds or swarm of bees.
Perhaps even better combined with mesh warp, but I had enough for now.
