I want to add a menu to the options of the Poser tool

Hello.
I would like to add functionality to the Poser tool.
It is the first time to write a script.
I would like to add a menu to the options of the Poser tool.
I want to switch the pause palette using that menu.
However, we can not get the number of parameters.
I can not find a function for counting.
Could you give me some advice for doing this?
Is this impossible?
