Smart Warp vs others like IWarp in GIMP etc

I have been messing around with IWarp in GIMP and have realised that it's much simpler to manipulate images, the end result is basically always more clean too.
When using Smart Warp in Moho it always seems fiddly to get the same results I'd get with IWarp. Like with IWarp i can just drag the mouse cursor around certain areas until i get the desired look, and it's smooth and much quicker to get a desired result, but with Smart Warp i have to be careful otherwise it creates ridges or fine lines in the image if edges are too close etc.. i don't really get that with IWarp.
Anyone know why? Is it just differences in the way Smart Warp works that make it that way?
