Target Bones Cease Working Beyond Frame Zero

Frame zero: Using "Manipulate Bones"(Z) the target bones of the feet work just fine.

Frame 1: the target bones of the feet are no longer directing the feet. Works in frame zero, but not frame 1 or beyond.

This often happens when too many bones have been keyframed in a smart bone action.

Thanks! I deleted my smartbone actions and the target bones work now, but I must go back to the ol' drawing board to correct shape distortions.

You likely didn't need to delete them entirely, just make sure that only the few bones necessary were keyframed in them. To do that you could select the bones you know you meant to involve, Edit>Select Inverse, and delete the selected channel keyframes.
