Hi everyone,
this forum helped me a lot when I started out with Anime Studio Pro some years ago!
Now I have a new question… I'm animating in Anime Studio Pro 9.5 with 50fps, and I need to export a quicktime mov with photo jpg codec, interlaced, 25i, upper field first.
As far as I can see from the output the export is automatically set to progressive. I there any possibility to change those settings?

No, you would do this from your video editing program.

I tried that too, but didn't really understand yet how. When I change the framerate from 50 to 25 ghosting appears inbetween the frames. Do you have any advice? I'm using Premiere and After Effects CS5. Thank you!

Only PAL SD and NTSC SD have the interlaced option. Anything else, especially HD, is progressive only. What's your project's dimensions?

If you just change the frame rate from 50 to 25, the dropped frames will be copied into the remaining frames with 50% opacity. Don't do that.

If it's a TV station, they should have the technical means to do that.

It's a good idea to write the delivery format into your contract (mine would be "HDTV 1920 x 1080 25p, Codec (codecname)", so there can't be any confusion).

That sounds like an odd request to me too.

Anyway, I'm wondering if you can use Render At Half Frame Rate in the output settings to get 25 FPS. I've never done that myself but might be worth a try.

Also, you want to use PNG or another lossless option. JPG will apply compression to the footage, degrading the render quality. If you're using a compressed output option from Premiere, that will further degrade it, so better to compress it only at the end of the process.

Photo JPG is a quite old codec, I really wonder why they ask for it. This is very likely a case of "misinformed technician making other's lifes miserable".

So which codec would you suggest? (except Apple ProRes)

TV stations demand best quality, so ProRes is standard here. Some even want the old Uncompressed 4:2:2. Once I had to meet the requirements of "IMX Kassette, XD-Cam HD-Disc (50Mbit, 25i, 4:2:2)", a certain physical HD format I've never heard of before, and had to ask a video service to create.

h.264 is not recommended because it changes gamma.

You really should reach out to some TV stations and ask for ther technical specifications, they even might haven them online. Caution: there might be different specs for commercals (better) and news material (not that strict).
