Failing auto-recoveries after crashes (with message)

Since updating to the latest 12.1, upon autorecovery after a crash I often get the following message (and no recovered file):
Error details: Failed to parse JSON document
Before the latest update to Moho 12.1, Moho 12 would often not recover files correctly (they would appear jumbled and damaged to the point it was easier to redo the lost work).
All and all I'd say autorecovery was far more reliable in ASP. I can't remember a single file it din't manage to resurrect. Now it's pretty much happenstance.
