Barber Pole

Post by msmart »

I tried Masks, Switch Layers, Bones and finally used point anime very time consuming, Any one know of an eaiser more smooth way to create a Barber pole? As it is obvious mine is far from perfect. Made Entirely with Anime Studio.

masks would be the way to go -
1) create a group with masking 'mask all'
2) create a layer set to 'add to mask' with the pole shape
3) ABOVE it, inside the group, create a 'stripes' layer and draw diagonal rectangles on it with an extra one belwo the pole (or a more nuanced, curved at the edges of the pole shape)
4) move the stripes up one position at frame whatever, and cycle it so it looks like they don't stop (use onion skinning to match them up. Set the keys to 'linear' interpolation so it rotates at a linear rate.

that's it - you should now have a rotating barbers pole.
If you want, above the stripes layer add another layer set to 'do not mask layer' and add some details like the ball at the top.

Here's one I just made in a couple of minutes (AS9)

Here is basically what funk describes but I just use lines and not shapes and I put 2 lines below the masked area.
