copy animation between layers?

Wondering how to accomplish a certain animation task? Ask here.

copy animation between layers?

Post by ulrik »

Is it possible to copy all animation (layer transpose, rotate, scale etc.) from one vector layer to another vector layer, or even better in my case, to a group layer?
I want a new layer (texture) to follow another layer (vector) which allready has been animated.

did u set the movement in a vector layer or un a group layer?

u should be able to clone the layer and set him up as you wish, IF you did the movement by layer movement (not frame by frame in the vector).

I made the movements in a vector layer, layer animations.
That's true of course, thanks a lot, I can duplicate it and get rid of all painted, keep the layer movements and add the texture as an image....I'll try that :D
What about getting the layer movements from a vector layer transfered to a group layer, is it possible?

thanks a lot mr.blaaa!

A script could do this, but there is no such script at this time.

hmm...I couldn't figure out how I could get an image file into a vector layer, I guess that is not possible, if it's not, then I can't use the clone layer tip.

Hi Lost Marble, yes a script would be great, unfortunately I know nothing about lua scripting, maybe I'll studie it and see if understand anything.
btw, thanks for a great software, I really enjoy working with Moho, even though I'm just in the beginning of the learning process. :)

what about the "Perpective Shadow" Layer effect? it must have taken animation information from the choosen layer, even if it doesn't show up in the timeline, is it possible to use that script in some sort of way, it's just an idea

I misunderstood your request. now i should have it^^
So u have an imported "image layer"?
If u have this u can clone the image layer with its animation and then enter the new image layer settings (doubleclick on the clone).
Then u click on "Image" and select the new image source data.
click ok and all things should be set up fine.

If you don't feel unconfortable about it you could do this by editing the project file with some kind of text editor, like wordpad.
In it you'll find all that is going on in your animation, find the layer you want to copy from and copy the translation, rotation etc. and paste it on the layer you want to copy to. Make sure that everything looks like it should, the file is really straightforward and I think you'll understand whats going on in it if you have a look.
I suggest you save the changed file with some other file name just in case...

mr.blaaa, now I don't understand what you mean, maybe my explaination was a bit diffuse. I try again, I have a vector layer with a lot of layer movements animated in it, now I want an image layer to follow the vector layer movements (layer transpose, scaling, rotating etc.). As I can see it there is 2 possible ways to achive this, 1: copy all layer keyframes from the vector layers timeline and paste them into the image layers timeline ( I've tried that but it's not working) or, 2: in some sort of way import the image into the vector layer, but I can't find any way to do that :(

ok... another misunderstanding.

if u have
1. a vector lay animated
and want it to
2. be animated the same way, BUT with an image instead.

U can ALSO (i think rylleman's advice will work so far)
edit the clone vector layer;
-make him fit the image u want to have (ca)
-edit the vector effect and set it to "texture", and tile.
Now you should have a Vector texturized with your image.

But, better try this at least.

Yes of course, that's more easy to do, thanks a lot mr.blaaa!! :D

I'm sorry, it didn't work, the image I use is a lot of details and every transparent part will get filled with "fill color" and if I set the fill color to 100% transparence it will show nothing, no color no picture :(

hmm... is the alpha-channel-transparency filled with vector fills?

maybe it is just a In-Program-View-Bug?
Because if you got a vector textured U CAN NOT SEE it in moho, until you render it a still frame at least.
So please try Ctrl+R and see if there's an image.
If there is one, all should be fine...

Otherwise, can u please upload your moho project in a zip folder? :(
