Test of my new character !

Post by 00moa00 »

This is a short headturn of a character I've create for a cd-rom.

The animation technique is inspired from:
http://lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1923 big up kasjorg !!!

What do you think of the character style?

That's cool. Did you use switch layers?

The basis is the same but like kasjorg say in this topic http://lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1923
It's very long to setup....

also it's just point interpolation but every parts have it's own layer !

the release of this animation have 2 objectives:
1- validate the character design (need your opinion about that !)
2- test an alternative animation "mecanism" (when the bone can't, interpolation can and vice versa)

The lesson i've take of this:
The result is fluid and doesn't look like cutout animation (often with bones), the interpolation add the "volume and natural touch" to the result !
Combination of bones and interpolation (with or without switch layer) makes moho a GREAT animation potential !!!!

2 more features misses:(it's my opinion !)
1-animatable "hide edge"
2-possibility to "pause" the interpolation (for switch layer)

Yes for a cd rom, he's the animator of an interactive tv show about security at roller, bicycle,skateboards.... (audience 7 to 10 years old)

That's awsome. Did you go to animation school or something? Or did you teach yourself or what?

I'd like to make films and tv series as a job later in life.

Did you go to animation school?

btw: he reminds me of the movie "antz". the soldier ants, you know?

Great character and the move looks fluid. I had seen that thread but really didn't get it - afraid I haven't gotten much beyond using simple layer animation and some bones.

If you or kasjorg have free time at some point and show a step-by-step tutorial of a minimal character done this way I would be very interested as the turns look great.
