It depends on the characters. Usually use 4-6 wide.
What I do is give it a width of 1 or 2 to the whole layer. In shadow on, 0 inoffset, 0 in blur and 1 or 2 in expansion. Apoha black with 255. It helps that the errors are not so much.
In my next work I'm trying to use variable widths. The final effect is better

Best way to animate.negroclarito wrote:No scripts or any special technique.
The animation was excellent. The file must be somewhere around 850 trillion Gigabytes or so because it kept pausing about every 3 seconds to get caught up. I didn't see past about the first 45 seconds because it was so infuriating the way it kept pausing.

That player is HD default, click on the HD icon so it is not blue and you should not get any more lag.Danimal wrote:Best way to animate.negroclarito wrote:No scripts or any special technique.

Well, I put it on mpeg HD and maximum quality.
VIMEO has high quality and often have to wait a bit.
It also depends on the internet line in each country ....
On youtube you will see no waiting ...

Top notch work.
First I thought "OK, the presenter always looks into the camera", but the small head turn at "especiamentos" (the kids) got me. Really good acting! And you made good use of stretching the body when the head moves - not too much, just perfect. The style is a matter of taste, but it fits with the animation and the subject. (I think the hands are much too small.)
Very clever to only do turns of about 30°. So there's no complicated walking or other time consuming stuff.
Some questions:
- how many people worked on this?
- how long did it take to design the characters?
- how long did it take to do one rig (the presenter)?
- how long did it take to animate the 6,5 minutes?
Was it broadcasted?

Thank you all
Sorry it is in Spanish .... my English is not very good.
Well, I also like more animation and talk less, but I chose a news channel will not have to animate a lot. There are many things I want to do, and with good quality. With these animations wanted the characters move your eyes and gestures, and learned a lot from them. I did not want to waste time with turn-arounds or camera movement.
Sometimes it is a bit slow, that I have to settle with less talk and a little more pace. In future work I hope to improve.
- To prepare this series took a couple of months. First design everything and then build it in AS. I'm still learning AS and do many tests so that they move well. If the characters move well, then it is easier to finish a chapter. If done right a skeleton, all the characters use the same and so I take the job.
I did not want to do a lot Squash and stretch (I do not like much), not to walk or anything to spend a long time. Choose a news channel because I can do things as I learn AS. Always thinking of doing work on the limitations of each. Still, there are a lot of work behind it ...
What more will it take is in choosing a style of characters.
- I do it all myself. From beginning to end. From the first idea until I put it on youtube.
- It takes two or three weeks for each chapter. 10-12 hours a day seven days a week (as a Chinese, hahaha).
- I do a lot whith test rigs. With the first ever take long, but if built well after the others are easier to do.
Now I am preparing something new, better. With better funding, a bit more movement and better backgrounds ... I hope to have it done in a month ....
