Hello again!

New development here.

I was looking for a patch to solve Photoshop CS4 slowliness problem and found a page on adobe forum

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/433020?tstart=0

Which led to this page

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4056

There you can get this file

PSCS4GPU_OptionalPlugins.zip

The I ran this registry patch

DisallowOpenGLWindows_OFF.reg

That not only took care of my Photoshop CS4 problem, but ASPro 6.2 runs real fast as well too.

If you find it works for you as well, let me know here and I'll post a new thread for it.

I think I must be a “skinflint”: I like things on the cheap, I now use Inkskape for any WMf files, and that converts a vector into PNG and I use Gimp for other photo materials. Gimp has a pluging for transforming to Anime format, really not a true anme, it still is a bitmap, so in PNG every bite as good as the supposed anime format that both Photoshop.

By the way both are powerful programs and both are FREE.

True Gimp is pretty hard to beat for the price, but Photoshop has the best tools out there for photo editing. I do my sketching in Corel essential 4, wich is pretty darn nice and fast, came with my tablet.

It all comes down to preferences really.

The more I work in AS Pro 6.2 with that registry patch, the more I see it really solved the speed issue to some point, not as fast as 5.6, but much faster then the way it was before, useable at least!

I doubt it.

Still, it does work much faster since I ran the patch.

Maybe it has to do with a Window limitation that was not resolved in AS Pro 6.x

Try it, it may work for you as well.

The zip comes with the undos as well, so no biggy!

It would be nice to know whether AS is using Direct X, or Open GL. That might help.

Have you tried updating your display card drivers?

I have all the latest drivers.

But like I said, the registry patch helped alot, not as fast as 5.6, but quite useable.
