Decent tutorial face and body rigging/setup
Hi - I know basic facial and body rigging in maya and I'd like to experiment in 2d. Does anyone know a good end-to-end tutorial that explains clearly the workflow for face and body rigging in AS through bones and switch layers.
I bought the 'official guide' book but it just outlines the principles rather than giving a step-by-step guide for a reasonably complex character.
Any help much appreciated.
ps My character is image rather than vector based.

The rigging changes for you needs. Simple hair movement, a few bones. Complex, many. Same for face, body, etc. There is no set rig. but is more of a skill learned by trial and error. Not only bones can warp a raster image but can enlarge or shrink.
And sometimes if your working with raster, you will need to do some frame by frame, AS can't do everything.

you can try this:

things have been updated quite a bit since this was first posted but the ideas themselves still work.

I recently did this one.....

Edit: Just noticed you wanted image rather than vector based. This is for characters created with vectors in AS

Thanks for the kind comments all. It's quite scary putting out a tutorial and took me a lot longer than I imagined. I thought about doing a video tutorial first but decided I would have to get somebody to dub the narration as I wouldn't want to inflict my Brummie accent on anyone I tend to prefer .pdf tutorials myself as I can print them out and easily follow with them next to the computer or read them elsewhere so that seemed a better, if more work intensive, option.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
