Luxo Sr. --An Interview With John Laseter

This is rather an oldie (1990), but there are some good observations. The most noteworthy I found was this one:
Computer animation is different than handdrawn animation. One of the misnomers that a lot of people think about is that computers go into other industries and replace hand workers. It's not that way at all with computer animation; it's a very different look.
So, for me this means each medium has its own look and feel, and you should not try to imitate a look and feel of another medium. Analog 2D animation is not pixel-based 2D animation is not vector-based 2D animation.

Also, something interesting happens if you start mixing two types of animation, like in Anime Studio (pixel-based and vector-based 2D animation). I still see too often that people are trying to create Flash-based animation, while Anime Studio can have its own look and feel, that is quite attractive and different from mainstream Flash.

BTW If you have never seen Knick Knack, go watch it on YouTube:

my cousin gift me a dvd with all pixar shorts (i think). It´s great to see how the computer animation was evolving. there is a documental really interesting.
it´s fun to see that pixar was something similar to the script request forum. somebody said "hey, I need to full the space with trees" and another said "ok, I will program something", and there born the particle system.
