How I did this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwoqL5gbdCc
This is basically particle effects attached to bones but some extra things needed to be done to get it right.
I drew out the shape of a man and made him weirdly proportioned.
I opened the shape layer settings and turned on the noisy settings for the man's body as well as the particle effect shapes.
Then I started on the particle effects in the belly. I played around with shapes and particle effect animation settings until I found something I liked. I then used the tip selgin had for eliminating particle trails.
Tip: Each shape in the particles use “cycle” because I animated them fading out.
I duplicated the effects layer and placed them all over the body changing sizes/settings as needed.
Once done I did a short animation. I saw that the man's body looked ok but I wanted to just use the particle effects only.
So I duplicated all the effect layers and shorten the duplicate effect life down to 4 frames. This made the body shapes more obvious.
Here is the final file. http://www.mediafire.com/?yvtmuaiqba5zbt0
You are welcome to learn from it. Just be aware that it took 30 minutes to render 11 seconds. _________________ Hi animation world. |

I like it. It always amazes me the different techniques AS is capable of.
Hopefully the physics tool opens up more possiblities. |

Amazing effect! Brilliant. It works perfectly. I did something similar a long time ago for flames from a dragon, using bones to control the movement of particles, but this is way cooler.

Hi fractureday,
I like it a lot how you share your techniques with us. This is very kind. Thank you for this!
This particle man looks very cool. I also tried something like this once.... but I did not get far. I will try your method! _________________ Tagirijus.de

thanks Tagirijus,
I hope you share your work with us. I'd like to see some cool particle people walking around or at least demons who are on fire or something. _________________ Hi animation world. |
