When looking for software to fill a need, I never consider the name of it. I would want to see what it can do. To ignore "Anime Studio" because you think it only does Anime is not being thorough in your search.

Many application names have absolutely nothing to do with what the application does:

Flash
Sony Vegas
Acrobat
Fireworks
Dreamweaver
Blender
Camtasia
Safari
Chrome
Opera
Mozilla

What makes those applications well known regardless of the name is marketing and word of mouth. Many of those applications are household names because of how long they've been around and how well established they are. Anime Studio could be called Bob's Your Uncle and if you find it in a search for 2D animation software you should check it out.

I look forward to continued improvements in future versions of Bob's Your Uncle®

;)

p.s. I think Moho was a great name and if they kept it, it could have entered the pantheon of funky software names that are synonymous with the applications use.

Hello again!

I agree with Vern on most parts.

Thing is, Anime Studio as a name is misleading as it implies it is for Anime style, I believe this is what this thread is about.

This could potentially turn off potential buyers looking for a more traditionnal animation package.

Moho ment nothing really, except a place in peru, so it was not misleading!

I liked Moho :)

Good point.

A "meaningless" name has less impact than a "specific" name. I still wouldn't ignore an application based on the name only. When I bought "Animation Master" I didn't consider myself a master of animation. Still don't. ;)

p.s. It's still Moho to me. I am reminded of it all the time as an AS script writer. Functions and calls in the script interface still use "moho" and "LM" (Lost Marble). Probably will forever. If that ever gets changed.... lots of search and replace. Probably will be a bottleneck of search and replace....
"I'm sorry but you can't do a global search and replace that big. Everyone is fixing Bob's Your Uncle® scripts and we have 1000 people ahead of you. Try again next week."
:)

Renaming Moho to "Anime Studio" was the stupidest moment in program's history. This name is really misleading, "Anime Studio" doesn't have much to do with "Anime"!

Imagine that Flash would be renamed to "Image Studio Pro", Dreamweaver - "PHP Studio", Chrome - "Pornosite Explorer", etc. Funny, huh?

Well, it's not that funny, because it is exactly what happened with our favorite program, Moho. That funky name was sacrificed to meet eFrontier's naming style requirements (probably :? ).

There is no more eFrontier, bring back "Moho"!

I hate the name, love the program :P

I'm sorry, but I really hate seeing all of the "anime style" stuff people make with AS on account of the name. DRAW (and write) IN YOUR OWN STYLE DAMMIT! Don't copy the "Anime, South Park, or Family Guy" style.

I like the name. You could prob say the same about manga studio. Anime is a cool style, and of course it can be used to hype certain demographics. Its a great program and the name is fine with me. I actually prefer it over moho.

Shrug. To each their own, what's in a name?

Ironically, Anime is the hardest to make with this package due to the way it works. Making that Anime shading is cumbersome and the layer/shape shading doesn't cut it.
