AI and AS use different ways to represent gradients, as well as AS and SWF. That's why you have to rebuild gradients in AS after importing from AI.

it's so bad for most animators ,we often draw our characters in ai or flash, and drawing in as is not so convenient.
is there any plugins can collaborate this two software?[/quote]

Please do a search in this forum about imoporting AI into AS. We had this discussion for so often, I won't repeat it here.

Learn to draw in AS if you want to animate in AS, that's the best advice I can give.

I think that's good advice Slowtiger. I don't get these "I can't draw in AS" posts. I use a lot of drawing software and I don't find AS any more of a problem than any other vector package. Maybe I just use it more and am particularly familiar with it but I find it very easy to get what I want within AS and just couldn't be bothered with the hassle of drawing (especially in another vector package) and importing.

Search the FORUM. See that line of links at the top there? Including "Search"? With the phrase "import ai into as" I found 1687 matches.

Yes, it's a bummer. But it's not a deal-breaker, usually, and it's not going to change anytime soon (probably), so you'll just have to suck it up like the rest of us...
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

today i installed the 6.0 version (I used 5.5 before) and i found that i can see the gradient color in the workspace directly, that's so great.

i think i can draw in AS later and never need import ai file.
