"French" fry- Heinz commercial contest entry

Post by jhbmw007 »

Some new characters for my next toon. The male fry will be the main character so he's the most complex. I'm going to give him a basic rigging but will mostly be animating by point motion. Let me know what ya think :)

mmmm, crinckle cut... my fave!
Looking good - would be cool if the front of he beret hung over hus forehead - it looks like it could slip off at any minute just sat on top like that :) maybe make it wrap the top of his head more obviously...?

Nice job - good luck with the project :)

Maybe you could "lead" with an edge -- that way your faces could recede backwards from a centre line -- could give you more design options for characters, perhaps?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

You mean have an edge of the fry in the center of the face? I tried that originally but decided I didn't want a line going down the middle of his face. Plus the way I have him now will help add demension- there's a hidden edge on his right side too that you'll see when he turns and twists.

I'll have to fix his beret- going to move that layer in front of him instead of behind.

Yeah, that's what I meant -- guess I didn't express myself too clearly...

I like him. I agree about the beret hanging over the front a bit. I also think he might be good with a pencil-thin mustache.

Well I've got about 13 out of 30 seconds of animation completed. Here's a few frames from the animation so far:

I'll post my progress on this project and will eventually tell you all what this is for (if you haven't guessed already).

I finally finished this- and I'm pretty happy with it. Definately the most ambitious thing I've done yet in AS. Here's the video- which I'm entering into the Heinz top this tv challenge:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZDZ86F36YKk

If I win I get $57,000! I'm sure I won't- but from the other entries I'm pretty sure I've got the best animated entry. Let me know what you guy think! (Suggestions are fine- but I'm not going to make any changes to it- I spent way too much time making this already lol).

Great stuff. And it doesn't have that typical AS 5 look either.
