"Neo-Mickey" animated by Barry Baker

Post by Inkling_Studio »

Designer Matt Cruickshank posted a clip from a project called "Neo-Mickey" on his blog . Matt designed it and Barry Baker did the animation. Someone had posted in the comments section of the blog asking if it were done with Flash or Moho.

I sent an email to Barry asking if he used Moho to do the animation and he responded back :
Yes, you're right - it was Moho (or Anime Studio as it has been renamed).
Very ambitious, richly realized animation. Take a look :

I loved the music more than anything. Always love IDM/Glitch. Suits the style of animation as well; very bubbly, ambient, fluent, colour rich etc.

The animation is very good - i know what the guy means when he says he doesn't understand his target audience. It's hard to judge with those sort of things. It could just be a case of making a decent short, with a strong storyline, that will appeal to a wide audience. Just like shrek, toy story etc.

But i do like it, and i love the style.... i love the music over the actual whole thing.. but i'm being biased :P

Very cool. I just watched it with my 2-year old- wasn't sure how to answer him when he kept asking me what all those creatures were..lol. He loved it though- so I guess it's good for preschoolers! (He's biased too though= he's obsessed with Mickey).

Reminds me of Poco Loco. That didn't have trouble finding its "target audience".

barry baker's head turns technique is very astute.
it's a beautiful animation, i fell jealous, i can see almost exactly how was it made (i almost can see all the bones), but i never could do something as good as it is. i really like it.

It seems it's no longer possible to see this anywhere. Isn't there an 'official' way to see it? I really want to see this.

I looked for Neo-Mickey for ages, hours. It's not often that I can't find something I'm looking for.

Still no actual video footage. There's just loads of blogs and sites that mostly link to crookiesblog, which is now dead.

All I've managed to find is this nice high resolution picture;

If anyone can find this animation, please post. Even if it means actually watching the Disney channel, or something else equally as insane. Actually I'm joking, I watch Kim Possible on it all the time :?

Guess what guys and girls...

Myspace

FLV file and FLV player

Very low resolution, and shorter than expected. I'm guessing this isn't the full version.
