Reversed or colorized Notes layers!

Post by heyvern »

If you want to add notes or do subtitles for your AS animations the notes layer seems the way to go.

But notes can't be "changed". You can't make them white, or reverse the color for dark backgrounds... but...

You can use the Layer Shading option under the Shadows tab of the note layer.

Different colors too!

Set the notes layer to render. Turn on Layer Shading in the Shadows tab of the layer properties, set the color to whatever color you want at 100%. Set the offset and shading to 0 and set the contraction to whatever works to fill the text. I used 4.

Keep in mind the size of the note when rendered depends on the pixel dimensions. A larger size makes the notes text "smaller" relatively. It is hard to get precise positioning on the render since notes "scale" relative to the view zoom.

If you set the layer mode to difference, you'll get more contrast if you have dark and light colors in your scene.

Of course, this will not work well if you have midtones under your subtitles.
