Out of the box "Show all animation" Button on Timeline

Post by JoelMayer »

I know we have tons of scripts that basically do that but for UX sake it would be a really nice addition to the new useful buttons on the timeline, to add one that just filters through your layer and it's children and shows everything that has animation on it in the timeline. Basically an auto-tagging system or something with a mouseclick above the timeline.

I think this should be reasonable to implement and would be nice especially to newcomers and also one less script to install.

Yep that would be great.

A. Evseeva's script includes the option to only turn the timeline visibility on of the layers that are animated after frame 1, which is handy because frame 1 is the initial pose frame so it can have keyframes that are not animating anything.

The buttons actions could be modified when using a modifier key, so for example alt-click on the proposed button turns the timeline visibility on only for animation after F1. That approach could make the other buttons way more useful too, for example: the reset and the freeze buttons could be alt-clicked to reset or freeze selected instead, which is used a lot. We have tooltips on those buttons, so the discoverability of these modifiers would be good enough.
