Future Feature Requests

Post by PixelVector »

Here's some improvements I would like to see in future updates.

- The ability to duplicate your canvas to use on multiple monitors. One canvas on your drawing tablet and another on your external monitor. This way you can draw, zoom in, etc, then you can just look at the external monitor to see how everything looks instead of interrupting your progress and zooming out.
- The ability to customize the layout, let us move things around
- The ability to insert new frames between existing keyframes by pressing F5 similar to Adobe Animate
- Improved Color Swatches. It would be great to auttmatically have saved swatches and recently used colors when you click on fill. Same with Stroke, it would be great to see recently used sizes/brushes.
- There is no right click (or button options if using a stylus) so would be good to implement some shortcut tools there.
- Improved patches - Let us patch layers that are not in the same group/folder. Sometimes you need those lines to disappear on the arm layers above and below the torso.

My input in order of priority:

#1 Name of the last selected entity always visible: now, when the bone is selected, its name is displayed, yet, as soon we switch to bone transform tool, it is gone. For multi selection just add the ... before/after the name.

#2 Decreased/Customizable virtual slider sensitivity: now the single scrub (0.001) in e.g. translate channels make noticeable jump over the screen, as all we have is range from -1.0000 to 1.0000 based on screen size. Feels like there could be implementation of Shift+scrub to 0.01 and Ctrl+scrub for 0.0001 increments; something similar for rotation and scale.

#3 Bone/Shape Lists sorting and filtering: now, even for a single character/warpmesh the list quickly becomes a mess, as entries are unsorted and occupy several screen height columns, making it hard to do further rigging/animation/styling.

#4 Functional Lua Console: now, it is not a console as such, rather a popup, truncates lines, impossible to select and copy text. Ideally would also allow to execute Lua commands, test scripts.

#5 Cleaner Undo/Redo stack for virtual sliders: now, records every value change viewtopic.php?t=36575

#6 Connected to #4 and #5: A visual indication of what is going on under the hood and/or help, could be just a text line overlay or a dedicated log window. Now, e.g. doing 30 undos just for one slider value change, it is easy to get lost in action. Besides, currently, there are help pop-ups on mouse-over actions (the yellow text snippets in Windows), which seldom works with panels undocked; instead all the tool names and/or help tips could be displayed at that bottom line.

#7 Customizable panels layout: now, it is possible to undock panels, but those jump back on docking. Missing the AFX/Maya layout flexibility.

If it counts, then those are 5 votes (licenses) from our studio.

Physics:
I'd like to see some improvements to the physics tool. Easier access to the settings for starters. Also, when the object lands on a non-moving object, it would be great if there were different simulated after-effects that could be applied to the objects like shatter, pop, splash, dent, explode. For example, if you have water drops or a water balloon falling and it hits the ground, then you can apply a realistic after effect like a pop or a splash. So when the falling object hits the non-moving object, it breaks apart in a realistic way and reacts based on the effect and the physics, instead of it just hitting the ground and laying there.

Some humble usability improvements:
  • Remember the width of the Layers Panel between sessions, don't reset it to an insanely narrow default once you quit the app. Maybe save the Layer Panel width inside the document you're editing?
  • Remember the toggle setting of View > Disable Grid Snapping between sessions. Don't reset it to enable every single launch.
  • It would be nice to make the layer colour also appear as a sub-item in the contextual menu when you right-click on a layer for quick changing.
