walk cycle without the character "sliding" across the screen

Post by myleshi »

I need to make a character walk to about the center of the screen, without him looking like he's sliding. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a walk cycle tutorial that shows how to get the character moving around the screen? I dont want to move the background to imply motion, or hide the feet or any tricks like that.

I already have the rig set up with bones, and the feet have target bones on them.

One way is to create a 'walk ruler'. You have one step in that image, you can use the toe-to-toe distance to establish a baseline for how far each step should be. Use that distance to make a layer with a 'walk ruler', and set it not to render in the layer properties.

I'm a little late here but here is a tutorial by Victor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_drSae90_2o&t=204s
It's a tutorial for Additive Cycles
