Bones work in frame 0 but nowhere else

Post by NealF »

I've been trying to learn Moho for quite a while. There always seems to be some new thing that happens, seemingly at random.

Here's my latest confusion:

I have an image with arms and body on different layers.
I created bones for the body and arms binding the arms to their respective layers.
The manipulate tool works as expected on frame zero.

But as soon as I move to another frame, the bones move but they're not moving any image parts.

This is the first time I've come across this and I'm sure there must be a simple answer.

Thanks.

Can you post the project? You can replace the image layers with solid color shapes if you prefer. I can take a look today and let you know if I find anything.

Sure.
Is there a place in this forum to upload files?
Haven't seen anything.

UPDATE: OK. Just noticed that somehow the one arm that I added a mesh to lost it's layer binding.
I re did the binding and now everything's working.

Total mystery as to why that would stop all the other bones from working.
I'll keep playing with it and if it does something mysterious again, I'll post it here.

:D I Spoke too soon.

That one arm also has a mesh that I'm trying to create a smart bone for.
Following several tutorials but my action isn't doing what's in the tutorials.

I can work around this problem (the shoulder joint out of place when I rotate the arm) but I'd rather know how to work the mesh and the smart action.

I have created an action where the mesh works fine, (although is doesn't say it's a Smart Bone in the actions window). But when I go back to the main timeline it's as if the action isn't there.

I should also find out how to upload files here.

I like to use Dropbox to share files with the forum. You can get a free Dropbox Basic account from here...

https://www.dropbox.com/basic

Once you have it setup...

1. Copy the file to your Dropbox
2. r+click on the file and choose Copy Dropbox Link
3. Paste the link in a forum post
4. Change the end of the link from dl=0 to raw=1. This will turn the link into a download link.
5. Wrap your Dropbox link using the Insert URL button in the post editor

Hope this helps.

That'll work.
I'm going to watch some more tutorials to make sure I can't figure this out on my own.
If I'm still stuck, I'll upload the file.

Thanks.

One warning about Dropbox: Use Dropbox for file sharing but don't work on a Moho project from inside Dropbox. For some reason, Moho has trouble saving changes to Dropbox.

So, you can work on your Moho files from any non-Dropbox directory and share copies of your files in Dropbox.
