Dynamic Scaling?

Post by rafael »

Is it possible to apply bone dynamics to the scaling of a bone?

There is, but it's doesn't work as fully as I would hope. Dynamics can scale a bone larger than on frame zero, but not smaller.

You can if your dynamic bone is made into a Smart Bone. You can then use the Smart Action/s to manipulate *anything*

p.s. Wes - I tried your file, it worked when I manually changed the B4 angle (it shrank bone B2) - but did not work when I played the animation.

Yeah, that was the not working as fully as I would hope part.
For now, your SB solution is much better.

Oh man, this is absolutely awesome! I kept trying to get something like this to work, but couldn't get it to go. Turns out I completely forgot you can associate an action with a bone just by creating an action with the same name. I kept creating smart bone dials. :p haha Been a while since I spent a considerable amount of time in Moho.

Thanks y'all!

I'm going to use this all the time!

Looks like it's best to give the action a lot of frames, that way there is 'resolution' for the small movements that can result at the end of dynamic movement. Also, I ended up going into the preferences and changed it to allow me to draw shapes on frames other than zero. Otherwise the 'rest' state of the circle was actually stretched out on the Y.

Nice one, Rafael! If you add squash and stretch scaling to the ball bone, it will behave even more realistically.
