"Two Popes"

Post by slowtiger »

4 min music video I did for a minimal budget in just 2 weeks time. All assets created in TVP, animation done in Moho. Made good use of all my new texture brushes to give it a picture book look. The whole thing was mostly improvised, with no storyboard and only minimum planning.

Congrats! That's some cool stuff! Your Moho skills are top! I do hope there's a trick to animating all this hundreds of flying objects rather than animating each on its own
I really liked the walk cycle that had the head bump synchronized to the beat!

May I ask, the textures were applied in TVP? or later in Moho?

All textures were painted in TVP, all body parts were seperately exported as PNG. While it's possible to do some limited compositing in Moho, like changing an object's color or applyx a texture by having a masked bitmap with reduced opacity and maybe a blend mode, I do that in TVP because it's faster to do and doesn't blow up Moho's rendering times.

Two powerful old guys with staves in a tower? Where were the Lord of the Rings references?
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

I liked everything except the flying scroll which I found distracting because I'd try to read it. The tempo was spot on and the look had an authentic storybook quality. I have no idea if there is anything deeper going on with the theme, but it was pretty much, two popes talking, well, dancing, 'bout Christmas.

Excellent work, and particularly so considering the short production time! I love the dance cycles, they have been really well considered and are charming.

There's something very sinister about those guys.
They have some kind of serious gansta attitude... dope popes?
I guess they've got one hell of a protection racket going.

This was very cool and adorable. Great work!! I just bought Moho Pro a few days ago I'm so excited :D Is TVP a image editor or another animation package? Those dance moves though :D
Sorry for my messy links. Will figure out later.

TVPaint is a bitmap based animation program. It is very good for frame-by-frame animation, and I use it for all of my illustration needs as well. Price is 500€ for the standard license, half price if you're a student.

Two weeks, wow, really got the mischief balance right, and with synced music too.
