noob to anime studio question

Post by marcelvaneijk »

hi i'm new working with anime studio,
i just created this

Image

and i kind of missed something,
it was scales

Image

now i am wondering,
how can i get the scales on the dragon body animation?
so it would look like this

Image

i would love to see the scales move along the body,
but an explanation about stationary scales would also be appreciated very much.

NIce design, that dragon has a certain weirdness in the face.

OK, first I'd like to say that it doesn't need scales everywhere. Just some scales along his back would be enough, and they could be done easily with some black lines in the same layer you already have.

To move the scales it depends on the animation technique you used. If you used bones: no problem, everything moves along with bones. Point animation: then you have to point animate the scales as well.

thanks for the remark about the weirdness of his head (i'd like 2 think).
i kind of used a bird/parrot/canary beak as an idea/example for a dragon's head,

but i did it by myself,
i think it's what you would've called a point animation.

but what i was wondering was more of a masking animation,
where i lay the pattern(the scales) behind the animated dragon,
the scales appear on the dragon and the rest of the scales isn't visible.
