Suggested Reading?
Hi all, What animation based educational books would you suggest that have techniques that are easy to translate to the anime studio workflow/style of animation? If this isn't the right approach can you please advise me of what i need to look for. I have found many books on the principles of animation but i wonder if any of you have found any gems that i might have missed in my search. Thanks for your feedback

The Cartoonist's Bible by Franklin Bishop. For me this allowed me think and honed my skill plus enjoyment in cartoon drawing first. Later watching various animations from Wallace and Gromit to Ren and Stimpy or even simple animations.

Re: Suggested Reading?
Animator's survival Kit by Richard Williams and then Animated Performance by Nancy Beiman are essential in my opinion.

Is that too much or too little money?InfoCentral wrote:What, $50 for that title!selgin wrote: Animated Performance by Nancy Beiman
PD:I'm from one of the countries with the most expensives books in the world (thanks to the cultural policies of our past dictatorship), so I'm unable to understand what do you mean.

No, that is really high. The Animator's survival Kit by comparison is only $22 and the The Cartoonist's Bible is a mere $12.

Re: Suggested Reading?
I would give another vote to the Animator's survival Kit by Richard Williams. There are DVDs to accompany the book http://www.theanimatorssurvivalkit.com/buy.html but they aren't cheap.
Re: Suggested Reading?
Thanks Jezjones29 i've seen the dvd's, he's could lose out a lot unless he sells the series in smaller chunks, i personally don't have to cash for an outlay like that mostly but i might be able to do it in bits.

Re: Suggested Reading?
I read this week that a new version of the book will be released for i-pad, with animated exercises and samples. It sounds like a very cool idea between the book and the dvd.
I don't own an i-pad (or anything related to apple), so I just hope they make a desktop version too.

In the comments there, someone also mentioned another book - Preston Blair's Cartoon Animation. I have this book too, but personally, I prefer the 'Animator's survival Kit''.
