Euro-English"
The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby
English will be the official language of the European Union rather
than German, which was the other possibility.
As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that
English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-
year phase-in plan that would become known as "Euro-English".
In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this
will make the sivil servants jump with joy.
The hard "c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear up
konfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter There will be
growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome
"ph" will be replaced with "f". This will make words like fotograf
20% shorter.
In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be
expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are
possible.
Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have
always ben a deterent to akurate speling.
Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in the
languag is disgrasful and it should go away.
By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th"
with "z" and "w" with "v".

kontaining "ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensibl

But the EU has 12 official languages (I think it's 12) in which every official document has to be translated to, costing enormous sums each year, so they should definitely need to cut down to one official language. Problem is, everyone wants their language as the official and wouldn't accept some other countrys.

Hm... I think it is not a mistake if we speak many languages here in europe, cause in fact almost every country here has its own language...
Try to imagine:
u make a trip thru the USA and the guys in Texas speak totally different to the ones in Arizona, Oklahoma etc.
And until in europe there is no war which delivers a "superior language" like english to us, they will have a lot to do by translateing everything about 10 times (hey, jobs for our translateors, we need jobs over here)

I live in the US and some here would argue thatTexans speak a different language than say New Englanders. I actually met a woman from Texas that had never heard of Rhode Island. I mean if you don't live in the US I can understand that, but if you lived here your whole life and don't know the 50 states?

And what about Esperanto, the language destined to become the universal language a long time ago? Klingon perhaps? I'd say English is the way to go, the best language to know around the world apart from the language of cash money. But those nations are all too self-absorbed and money keeps being wasted. I'm from The Netherlands but I can understand speaking Dutch in the EU would be silly. We've already got the half of Belgium anyway.
The Internet has adopted English as a standard a long time ago, look at this forum, many people from all around the world al writing semi-coherent English...well most people...
Even non-english speaking countries can enter English songs in the Eurovision song contest nowadays, so they stand a better chance at winning!
