New Forum Features

Post by Lost Marble »

As you have probably noticed, the appearance of the forum has changed. Along with the appearance change come some features that I hope will improve our experience here on the Anime Studio Forum.

First, and most important are some anti-spam measures that have been put in place. Most of these you don't have to worry about - they will help moderators identify and eliminate spam. But there is one thing that regular users can do to help fight spam is to report it when you see it. If you see a spam post, please click the "Report this post button" to let us know:

Instead of creating a new post that says "please delete this spam" or just doing nothing, clicking this button will notify the moderators so that they can deal with it. This saves the moderators from having to dig around and look for spam on their own. But like I said, there are other features in place to hopefully reduce the spam to begin with.

Attaching images

Post by Lost Marble »

I've also added a feature to easily let you attach pictures to your posts. Previously, you had to upload your picture to some website and then embed a link to it. You can still do that, but if you want a quick and easy way to attach an image, there's an "Upload to TinyPic" button on the page where you type a new post.

Let's try it right now...

If your image is large, it helps to resize it to "Message Board" size - the TinyPic uploader can do this for you automatically.

Embedding YouTube and Vimeo videos

Post by Lost Marble »

You can also now embed YouTube and Vimeo videos directly into your posts. At the top of the post editor are buttons for text formatting (those have always been there) - now there are two new buttons for Vimeo and YouTube.

If you have the URL to a YouTube video, say like this:

Code: Select all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVRywwzOSVY
Take the video ID (in this case KVRywwzOSVY) and put it inside a youtube tag like this:

Code: Select all

And here's what you get:

Vimeo works in a very similar way. Let's say you have this Vimeo URL:

Code: Select all

http://vimeo.com/36436964
This video ID is 36436964, and you would embed it in a post like this:

Code: Select all

[vimeo]36436964[/vimeo]
That's all there is to it!
