Video Training: How to Make a Head Turn with Actions PART 2

Part 2 of "How to Make a Head Turn with Actions" is about building the 2d vector model from scratch. We are building this character::

The model is specifically built for vector morphing and Flash export. For those of you just starting out with Anime Studio Pro this should be a nice introduction to the basics of model building. Eventually I'll post a higher quality 1024x768 version.

Part 3 should MUCH shorter(I hope) and will be the last and final part of the headturn actions tutorial. We will finally create our first 2 actions, and complete the final animation.

Another fantastic tutorial! I've only 'skimmed' through it as it was late when I downloaded it last night. It seems loaded with info and I can't wait to view it properly.

I was so focused on building the model and explaining stuff that I forgot to keep track of time, so I hope the length isn't too off putting. By the time I was done I thought only 1 hour had gone by. With 2 hours you could've watched Spiderman 3 instead. Genete, Patmals, AmigaMan you each deserve a special award for surviving my sadistic model building video.

And for the rest of you who haven't seen it yet, it's like getting slapped in the face with a rubber chicken by your grandma.

I will be viewing it while I still have a little free time. I'm eternally ravenous for whatever tips I can devour. The more knowledge we have of different techniques, the more ways we can conceive of to solve any particular task.

:shock: << it was actually quite hypnotic... i managed to sit through the whole thing (although admitadly i was just listening while doing some work on some of it to let you get on with what you were doing...) - you never know when something said will make a big difference to future workflow.

The equal point technique you shared makes perfect sense, and is deffinately something i never thought about before.

I'm watching your second part of the tutorial and have a part of comments:
1) Wow! thanks!
2) Regarding to the white of the eyes: You don't want it around the edge of the eye so you create two shapes that overlaps the surrounding part of the white and cover it to hide it. To do that you move the points of the skin tone shapes to be in the middle of the strokes of the eyelids. I have not seen the third part yet but I think it would be more economical that you do that with the eye white instead of add two other shapes that you should move in each action. Isn't it?
3) Ehen create the second eye based on first you spend some time to adjust points to the symmetrical eye... Why don't you perform a vertical mirror to the just copied points and adjust them with less movements?

what screen casting program do you use to record your tutorials.

i'm planning on doing the same thing too.
