Animated Layer Ordering

Post by slowtiger »

It's amazing what you can do when you really have to ... With the help of the forum I was able to solve nearly all problems I ran into within this project, including misbehaving bones, switch layers and such. But how disappointed was I when I read "layer ordering isn't animatable" (in http://www.lostmarble.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2697). This is an essential feature for me!

But there's a workaround. Although the animation was already finished, I simply duplicated the layer which sometimes has to be in front, sometimes behind another layer. Moho copied the whole layer with all its animation! Moving this layer behind I carefully did in frame 0 as recommended (doing it elsewhere can cause Moho to crash). The rest was to switch visibility of the top layer off and on again.

If you want to see the result, have a look at http://www.slowtiger.de/ani/sk6_2.swf.This is still test animation, the whole character is going to appear in an online flash game, talking to the player.

ah, stupid me. The effect is barely visible if you don't know where to look at: it's the right leg's joint to the pelvis.
