Moving an object to the foreground

Post by daveindezmenez »

This one is going to seem really obvious to those used to using this app. But for people brand new to the program it might be good to know:

When you draw one object and then you draw another, the most recent one is the one on top (in the foreground). Let's say you drew a crown and then you drew a head shape to put it on. If you go to drag the crown to put over the head, you'll discover that it slides under the head shape.

Quark X•Press (a desktop publishing application) or Illustrator (a vector drawing application), there is nothing to move an object to the foreground in the menu.

So how do you do it?

You Cut and Paste it. Pasting it performs the same function as drawing it to begin with and it will become the most recently created object and will be on top.

You can have several shapes in one layer and change their stacking order by selecting one and go to menu "Draw > raise Shape" etc. But I do the cut&paste method all the time because it's faster to me.
