Youtube frame by frame

Post by funksmaname »

I suddenly thought, if I could cycle through youtube videos directly frame by frame it could be a really useful learning tool for looking at motion & mouth shapes on some of my favourite toons... turns out there are extensions that let you do this!

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... tube-plus/
This one lets you cycle through the video with shift+cursor keys when fbf is enabled

Chrome:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... o?hl=en-GB
This one adds step forward/back buttons to the youtube controls.

Hope someone finds this useful!

I use Chrome a lot. That's going to be very useful -- thanks!
You can't have everything. Where would you put it?

Great analysis tool. The Chrome one works, I can't get the Firefox extension to do anything although it appears below the video. Pause and a click on FBF only lets me move through the video in 5 second intervals, whether shift is pressed or not. Oh well, it's no hassle to start my second browser if needed.

Whoops, I just realized that by pressing on the FBF button I deactivated it. When it's not faded, all you have to do is pause the video and advance with shift and right arrow. Just recently I nearly killed myself trying to take screenshots of a walking cycle. This is much more comfortable and accurate. Thanks!
