Have you ever used Use Selected Bones for Flexi-Binding but then changed your mind, and now you can't seem to release the layer from the bones? Whenever I ran into this situation, I never quite understood what was going on and I would just try out a bunch of stuff until I somehow got lucky.
Anyway, today I think I finally got it. Selecting the bound layer and choosing one of the Release commands (like Release Layer) seems like it should work but none of Release commands will release a layer bound by the Use Selected Bones For Flexi-Binding command. I did notice that if I selected a different group of bones, I could reassign Flexi-Binding to the new selection. Then, it finally dawned on me: deselect all of bones and then choose Use Selected Bones For Flex-Binding. The layer should now be completely released.
Briefly stated: Use Selected Bones for Flex-Binding with no bones selected means no specified bones will be used.
Duh, oh yeah.
That probably seems obvious to some users but for some reason it confounded me for the longest time. I'm just posting this info here in case it was confusing anybody else.
G.
P.S., If anybody has more info to add to this, please post as I don't think I have it quite all figured out yet.

Re: Releasing a layer from Use Selected Bones For Flexi-Bind
I understood binding just enough to get by until I'd run into a problem. After that happened enough times I finally took the time to study it and I made a video about it to help others and help me remember when I forget. Hopefully it can help shed some light on the binding in ASP.
Re: Releasing a layer from Use Selected Bones For Flexi-Bind
Thanks, Strider. That's important information for me. I've never been able to rig a character without at least one layer/bone relationship getting messed up. Selgin gave the tip to flexi-bind points, but I thought this was before flexi-binding the layer to selected bones, so doing this afterwards, when the bones still look unconnected is new to me. Hopefully someday the program will have the capability of switching binding methods with one click.

In Bone menu there's an item called "Use All Bones for Flexi-Binding". That returns the selected layer binding to its original state.

Thanks, I never tried that because I thought it would apply to all bones and layers.
