Building trust with client
Hey folks, I'm really excited to be here. I may be landing my first freelance gig soon, but I feel like there may be a lack of trust. I've asked the client for a script so I can see if his project is something I'm capable of doing, but he says he wants to settle on a price, timeline, and contract first. Is this something that's normal for freelancing? It honestly seems weird to me. Please forgive me if I'm being naive; I'm very new to selling animation.
Re: Building trust with client
I don't know about animation, but I've never heard of agreeing to a price without knowing the scope of work.

I agree, if he wants you to sign an NDA then do so - but you can't quote on a job without knowing how much work is involved... how long is a piece of string?
Re: Building trust with client
Don't ever sign a contract or anything without knowng at least the outline of a project. Be especially careful with clients who want an NDA signed first - that's completely unnecessary. If they can't provide you with information, you'll be unable to provide them with a reasonable quote.

Re: Building trust with client
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I've sent him an email politely asking for a script, and am waiting to hear back. You guys are great!
