Use Bone Strength but seperate the legs?

Post by skygaz3r »

hello guys,

normally if i build a character i set the Bone Strength to zero and then bind the vector to a bone.
I made i character and and did this as well but i wanted to use now the Bone Strengh to let the leg look more flexibel.
The thing is, if i use Bone Strength and even reduce it to a minimum, it still keeps moving other vector.
Example: I use the Bone Strength on the one leg but it as soon as i move the Bone it also stars moving the other leg :/
Is there somehow a way to avoid this?
sorry, my english isn't good ;(

yes i know i am in the manual at 3.4 but maybe my english is just so terrible that i dont get the point what to do oO
i mean i know that i have to give the bone just a limited strength, but it seems that it catches still stuff that is actually out of its range :/

Well, just call it a skirt? *fg*

Seriously: first, you need to make sure to use flexible binding, because any bone strength will only work with that.

Then, don't set all bones to strength=0. The Offset bone trick works in a way that it calculates the distance between the bones and their relative strength to each other in order to decide which bone controls certain points. If you set everything to zero, adding more distance will not help. Try to set each bone's strength so it just covers all the points it shall control.

Of course it's possible that you still have single points bound to the wrong bone. In that case select those points and choose "release points" from the menu.

Hi,
I saw your post. I also see that you got help with your problem. In your first post you said you wanted to use bone strength to move your legs. If that is still something you may want to do, here is a video that will help you out.
