Animation Challenge: back to basics

Post by funksmaname »

Hi all,
Now, this might be a bad idea and may not catch on, but on 'the drawing board' board they have a monthly challenge, where they post photos and users of the forum all do their own interpretation...

I just thought this might be a cool idea for here, rather than waiting for contests - why not just have a monthly challenge?

I realise animation is a time consuming art form, so we can keep it as short and simple as we like - but have a 'take' on the theme? We could post our anme files and maybe have some support and inspiration for animation tests... ?

---------

Back to Basics

We all know the bouncing ball... well animation is about putting personality on sometimes the simplest things through movement. This challenge is about putting some personallity into the tired old ball who just got tired of endlessly bouncing...

In my entry below, the ball has had enough and decides to escape.
Ball Escape and anme file

can you take a simple ball and put him in some situation? this is practicing the power of animation at its simplest - the star is the ball - in this case just 4 points.

Join in if you like,
Or just tell me to shut up and get a job...

heh... what the heck was I thinking there? :D

Will it save me from total humiliation if I claim that it's REALLY pieces of a broken bottle? ...no, I didn't think so... :)

I got another idea:
whenever anyone posts anything, make a suggestion for the next challenge?

when i say make a suggestion i actually meant for the next animation challenge (i.e. for next month) and it doesnt have to have anything to do with balls! :)

Ooops Sorry Funk! Just corrected.
And regarding to next challenge I was just kidding. Really, my imagination is so poor lately...

And yes, I have troubles to give live to the ball! I think on it if it were an object not a living thing!!! Aarrgh! I have to change my mind!!!!

I'll do other entry...

Great idea Funk!

No pressure with prizes and deadlines, no rules, just have fun. And it can still satisfy our competitive nature.

p.s. Years ago my doctor's name was "Dr. Funk". I always wondered... was he "hip" or "depressed". ;)

I loved your ball toes on the sharp icerock, cap, and the friendly ball Genete, he/she had some personality...and the scared and tired ball on the run Funk.
Great!
